Message from our Chairman
Coalhouse IOM Ranking Weekend 2021
Well what a weekend, the club showed that all pulling together we can run major events well. With the help of Graham Bantock to lead us. It’s wrong to pick out people but Terry Wright and Jim La Roche have worked behind the scenes and shoulder to lean on for me. The path had many bumps in it but finally we got there. Ray Reeves our ranger has helped all the way. ON the Sunday George Pattern even manage to relay read for the club racing to start Wednesday. Thank you to every one for your support for the club. I am sure everyone slept well after the event. We have a wonderful sailing venue. Thank you again I am very proud of you all.
Geoff Appleton your Chairman.
The obituary for Graham Bartholomew is now open on the Funeral Directors Website, along with the opportunity to make a donation in Grahams name to ‘Cancer Research UK’ if anyone wishes. Please follow the link below. (Posted by Dave Sellens)
It is with much sadness that I have to report that Graham Bartholomew passed away on the morning of Friday 5th March 2021. Graham was one of the nicest guys anyone would wish to meet and a true gentleman on and off the water, he will be sadly missed by all who ever had the pleasure of meeting with and sailing with. RIP Graham. (Posted by Dave Sellens)
Sorry to say but because of safety issues the club ( CHFRYC) will not be using the lake until further notice and apart from the safety issues there are very few marks on show. Let’s hope it goes down soon. Whilst I have your attention we have some events this year that will require help from the members, these meetings are- The Coventry Trophy on the 10th May for IOM The Eastern District Ranking Meeting on 13th& 14th June for IOMs and the DF65 National Championship’s on 14th 15th& 16 August, so yes a busy year and hopefully one we will end up proud of. So if you could make us aware of when and where you can be of assistance it would be greatly appreciated. We are also not classist you can help at any of the classes.
As discussed during the AGM in December, the need for filling the Class Captain positions is important to ensure all the classes have representation on the Sailing Committee, allowing the sailing/racing you the membership want. To this end Jim La Roche has been co-opted as the IOM Class Captain, allowing Terry to concentrate on the DF65 and RG65 class’s. Terry will also deputise for Jim when required.
IOM Open Icicle Trophy NOR
25/10/2019 IOM Thames Trophy
03/10/2019 John Newton Memorial event
Unfortunately in light of the awful weather forecast for Sunday it has been decided to postpone the memorial meeting until the spring.
It will not be fun to sail and are wanting to raise money from members of the public but we fear there will be no members of the public about on Sunday!!
DF65/95 winter series 2019/20
Its almost time for the Frozen Fingers/Feet series to start, please see the following Notice Of Race for both series. There are the odd spare boats available if anyone would like to have a go. please see the class news pages for the Notice of Race.
John Newton Macmillan event
In memory of John Newton we will holding a race event for the DF65 whith the aim of raising a donation to the Macmillan Cancer Support in Johns memory. lets all dust of our 65’s and join together racing at the club, as John enjoyed so much.
Hi Guys. looking for a work party for 17th or 31st August I know it’s RG’s on the 17th so only looking for non RG sailors for that day. I need one in the boat with me the rest on the bank. Let me know with a thumbs up and what dates available and if available for both Dates. 4 or 5 skippers would be fine 🤔🚣Thanks
Hi Girls, No doubt by now you will have all read the minutes of our recent committee meeting that James kindly posted out to you and for my sins ( not unsurprisingly) the organisation of the John Newton Memorial meeting has fell on my shoulders Thus far its has been decided that it will be for the DF65 class held on Sunday 6th October this year , that all monies raised will go to McMillan Nurse, there will be a £5 entry fee plus it will be thrown open to all comers and will between 10 o/c through to 4o/c.
In view that the committee seems to be very busy I’m looking to form a race committee to help me with this event to form the format on extracting as much fun along with raising a good amount of dosh in Johns memory, so if you feel you and or your partners have something to offer please contact me TERRY 😘
Hi People’s, We have pencilled in a much needed work party for Saturday 10th August. Whilst we don’t need a huge amount of bodies we do need someone to man the Dingy whilst George does his magic . Are you that someone? Please let me know ASAP so as I can continue to link it all together. I wouldn’t ask but all our normal suspects are tied up for a few weekends 😘
Please be awarethere is now a defibrillator placed on the wall of the ranger’s office. If I can find out if we can receive training on the use of this I will try and arrange. Geoff Applelto
